ROME – Local Floyd County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) officials toured the damage from Friday’s storms this afternoon with Lans Rothfusz, the lead meteorologist from the National Weather Service (NWS).
Aerial tours were conducted via Georgia State Patrol helicopter of the county and storm damage. Officials determined that there was no tornado in Floyd County. Straight line winds up to 80 mph are to blame for the damage.
26 homes were damaged in the storm, but, thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Residents should use caution when out and about as crews are still working on downed power lines and trees. Some roads could still be closed due to trees or lines down.
