Department Overview
The Street Department maintains the 200 plus miles of City streets that link interstate commerce in Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. The Street Department is responsible for repairing, patching, and resurfacing these roadways as well as for keeping ditches and drainageways clear and free flowing to minimize the hazards of flooding. In recent years, the Street Department has also played a key role in many special projects such as the construction of Streetscape in downtown Rome and the development of Ridge Ferry Park and the Clocktower Hill site restoration.
