JOB SUMMARY: This program provides a continuum of supportive services to victims of crime. Referrals come from the District Attorney’s Office, Law Enforcement, Multidisciplinary Team, and other community agencies. The Victim Advocate works within the District Attorney’s Office and direct supervision of this position is provided through the Victim Witness Assistance Program Director. Total effort is directed toward working with primary and secondary victims of crime. The position requires flexibility, self-motivation, a cooperative team effort, and a very detailed and organized person. MAJOR DUTIES: Prioritize and expand post- adjudication services offered to victims. Provide assistance with letters, victim impact statements, registration for notification by the Georgia Victim Impact Program, and accompaniment to post-conviction events. Communicate with necessary professionals if the defendant is putting the victim in fear or violating a court order. Assist victims with notification requests to the appropriate agency regarding the defendant's release from incarceration. Ensure that contact information and the physical location of the victim is maintained and accurate for continuation of services. Collaborate with local service providers to assess the need of victims in post-adjudication and help create or expand services. Assist and follow up on matters in on-going restitution and compensation claims. Provide referrals for services such as counseling that are needed in post-adjudication. Locate victims or their family members when requested by Pardons and Paroles to allow victims to provide input with regard to parole decisions, pardon inquiries, and clemency inquiries. Provide proper and timely parole notices and decisions to victims. Provide call-in and walk-in assistance on post-adjudication services to victims and their family members. Prepare UVISA Certifications for review.  Handle, and prepare requests from the Sex Offender Registry board for information in closed cases. Notify victims when an offender files to be taken off the Sex Offender Registry. Communicate victims’ rights events, opportunities and support groups to victims. Assist other advocates with court or case management as needed.  Utilize Tracker to track data for reporting purposes. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  B.S. in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology or related field or equivalent combination of education/work experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Must possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License
