General Description:

Performs inspections of buildings and structures to verify compliance with the State and Local adopted minimum construction codes. These inspections include those for buildings under construction and/or undergoing remodeling.  Building types include commercial, industrial and residential.

Minimum Requirements:

·         High School Diploma or equivalent.

·         Minimum of two to four years (depending on classification level) previous work experience in building inspection, construction plans design, review, or inspection; construction or an inspection-related position.

·         Possession of ICC (International Code Council) Residential Combination Inspector certification upon hire. ICC certification as a Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector is required within six (6) months of appointment.

·         Meet Official Code of Georgia Annotated (O.C.G.A.) Section 8-2-26.1 for Qualified Inspector.

• Possesses effective problem solving skills and must have excellent administrative and interpersonal skills. 
• Must have strong written and oral communications. 
• Must be detailed oriented and a multi-tasker.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with all types of people; Spanish helpful.
• Must be able to organize and prioritize effectively.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver’s license in state of residency.
• Must obtain National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) 100 and 700 within three (3) months of employment.
