Commissioner Sue Hamler Lee

Sue Hamler Lee is a native Roman and newest member of the City Commission. Ms. Lee graduated from East Rome High School and Shorter College with advanced degrees from West Georgia College and Georgia State University. A retired educator, she worked as a teacher, media specialist, and central office administrator before retiring in 2002.
Ms. Lee has a long history with volunteer organizations in Rome including the United Way, Rome Area Council for the Arts, Rebecca Blaylock Learning Center, Network Daycare Center, and National Creative Society. She served as board chairperson for several of these groups. She currently serves on the Rebecca Blaylock and Network Daycare board.
The following are attributes that she feels a quality public servant should possess and ones that she strives to follow:
- Attentive to needs and requirements of all citizens.
- Sense of fairness to all, regardless of social, political or financial status.
- Openness to new and innovative ideas while being aware of what has worked well
- in the past.
- Ability to put aside personal interests or wishes in deciding the solutions to the
- city’s needs.
- Willingness to work with fellow elected officials in a positive manner.
