By Aaron Carroll, R.L.S., P.E.
1) The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department has setup a donation area located at North Rome Church of God Community Building which is located behind the church on North Broad.
The donation hours are: Friday, September 1 from 8 AM-6 PM . They will be open Monday (Labor Day) and continue to accept donations for the next several weeks. Please coordinate your volunteers, gather donations and get the word out. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact RomeGaCares Disaster Relief Hotline at 706-252-0978.
2) The City of Rome’s Downtown Development Office is supporting Hurricane Harvey relief efforts with a bottled water donation drive at the Sept. 2 Downtown Rome Saturday Outdoor Movie. Attendees are encouraged to bring bottled water donations to the Town Green between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Signage will mark where donations are being accepted. The Downtown Development Office is working with RomeGaCares Disaster Relief to gather and distribute the donations. For questions, call Megan Treglown, at 706.236.4520.
