Notice of Sign Ordinance
The Rome-Floyd County Planning Department and Building Inspection Department would like to share notice of the local sign ordinance for the benefit of public safety.
Temporary signs installed in a right-of-way are in violation of litter laws and sign ordinances. These signs are hazardous to drivers and pedestrians as they can obstruct the line-of-sight.
Temporary signs may only be installed on private property.
Such signs must be removed at the completion of the activity they address - in the case of election signs, upon final result of the election.
For questions related to the Rome-Floyd County sign ordinance, please contact Sue Hiller, Planning Director at 706-236-5024, shiller@romega.us or Howard Gibson, Building Inspection Director at 706-236-4488, hgibson2@romega.us.
